I hv bookmarked it for reference.
One quick question only few days left for Christmas, so which type of social strategy need to follow to get more sales?

    • Raj, I think you should just keep emphasizing the point that the holidays are coming up and that there are gonna be some great deals coming your users’ way. Let me know how it works out πŸ™‚

  5. Wow! This is a great idea! Do not understand how it had not occurred to me, thank you very much for sharing this info Neil, I’ll try to plan something.

  6. Thanks for reminding about Black Friday blockbuster. Looking forward to play with Your graphic presentation is awesome. Love it….

  7. Great article Neil. But the real reason for my comment is the awesome SEO analysis pop up. Wow, not sure how you did this but it’s the coolest process with what appear to be some very useful suggestions to improve my site SEO. You’re amazing.

  8. Thanks for another great post, Neil. I sell a training product that I typically open every 4 to 6 weeks. I’d love to hear your thoughts on how folks in my position, who don’t have a gift related item to sell, should work with/around black Friday.

    • Norman, some of the same tactics apply. Make sure you advertise and that you have a catchy headline the captures their eye for a bargain.

  9. Wait, Cyber Monday is the biggest online day of the year. Black Friday is the biggest offline day of the year.

Where are you getting your facts from????

  10. All data clearly show the people trust on online shopping. Prediction shows 1 billion sales this year and 72% people will buy something. In India now people started doing online shopping, I hope some day this figure will be same for my country as well. Great research sir.

    • Rohan, glad I could help. I think as global commerce expands it definitely will reach into other regions of the world πŸ™‚

  11. Great infographics!

May I ask you why you don’t set notification e-mail about follow up comments? πŸ™‚

Is there any specific reason or simply this is the way your blog is working?

  12. Thanks for the Great tips Neil, I have a new website about kitchenware reviews, hopefully I’ll make my first sale on that day.

  13. Big Friday, Big Friday, WHEN does the Big Friday take place? Neil, not everybody in your audience comes from the US, so it would help to some of us if at least one blogger bothered to specify when it is!

  14. Brodey Sheppard :

Maybe I left it to late to open up a store in America before black friday… That’s a shame I think I could have cleaned up :P.

  15. Yes thanks neil for alerting everyone and cool infographic too
Even i was not aware that 75% retailers use facebook to reach shoppers

    Thanks for the info

  16. Yup Black Friday is round the corner and I am too working on leveraging it and make some bucks on that day.
    Thanks for the infographic πŸ™‚

  17. Hey Neil,

Great post and an awesome infographic. In this day and age when marketers make up all kinds of excuses (“fire sale”, “birthday sale”, “anniversary sale”, “I-had-a-baby sale”), it would be a crime to NOT do a sale on the very day that people think of as a right to find a great deal online.

    Some sale ideas…

    * Buy 1, Get 1 Free (really a half-off sale, but sounds better, and you get more in the sale than selling one thing for 50% off)
    * 10% Coupon
    * 10% Direct Discount (no coupon required)
    * Buy X, Get Y (add-on or service) for free
    * Buy X, Get More Of X1 (that you were already getting)
    * Tell 3 People this weekend, and get 10% (social coupon)

Hope this gets your “sale” juices flowing πŸ™‚

    • Ravi, really appreciate you putting the time in to provide us with these ideas. They are all great and I’ll definitely share them in future posts and with others πŸ™‚

  18. Well, I don’t have an online store right now. But, this information is really helpful.
Thanks For Letting Me Know This Information. This would definitely help me in the future.

    Thanks Again!
    Have a great day!

  19. Offering something free is a cool idea to entice the customers and one can make them loyal customers by issuing them with a loyalty card with point addition with every purchase.

  20. Your infographics are always so comprehensive and so informative. Thanks for this wonderful infographic about Black Friday. Because I have an online service business (SAT education service), I didn’t think people would be interested in buying from me during Black Friday… but you got me thinking!

    • Mary, glad you found the article helpful. There are definitely a lot of tiny tricks out there to get more traffic during the holidays πŸ™‚

  21. Hey Neil,

You wrote a blog post [What Spending $66,372.09 On Paid Advertising Taught Me] about ad spend for But have you done a similar post like that using KISSmetrics as an example?

  22. Black Friday is an opportunity not only to make sales a vendor but as an affiliate also. big companies offer huge discounts and exclusive coupons during this occasion so it would be a great idea to promote services by offering these promotions to your prospects.

  23. Hi,

I mean you wrote a blog post where you showed the performance of your ads on LinkedIn, StumbleUpon, AdWords, etc. when you were promoting So I was asking whether you have done a similar blog post that shows which network is sending the best quality leads for kissmetrics.

    • I have not as we aren’t sharing that data with KISSmetrics. If that ever changes, I will do a blog post. πŸ™‚

      • Great! Thank you… but maybe you can do some post/infographic about best ad networks for various industries… Like FB for eCommerce, AdWords for SaaS, etc.someday. πŸ˜‰

  24. Neil, I mean for us, commentators. It would be great to get a notification email when you answer a comment question. πŸ™‚

  25. Hi Niel, Thanks for sharing great information and nice infographics.

  26. Heather McLane :

    Hi Neil,

Under “How to be prepared,” you say to “Start early.”

How early is too early? I feel like there is starting to be a backlash against companies that start promoting Black Friday/holiday sales too early.

    • Heather, this is really a judgment call companies need to make on their own. When I say early I mean be prepared and make sure all your stuff is in order before your launch date.

  27. Ah, I understand. Thanks, Neil!

  28. Ravi Jayagopal :

    Hey Neil,

I was at Ryan Deiss’ Traffic & Conversion in San Diego (I live close by) and got to see your great presentation on the 2nd day.

And being originally from India (moved here in 2000), it was funny when you said “Indian people are cheap” :-). I totally get that, because back in 1998 when I was still living in India, I struggled with my very first web site that I ever created on Indian Baby Names, trying to monetize it by selling an ebook and stuff. Nobody would buy! Not even when I sold it for $1.

I was later able to make money with it with through Adsense. Anyway, if you’re ever in San Diego, would love to meet up.

PS: Your Indian-accent impression to one of the questions was hilarious! πŸ™‚

    • Ravi, glad to meet a fellow internet marketer. Glad you liked the presentation.

  30. Wow do I need that many pop-ups on my site to get some optins? I love infographics on websites but hate them on pinterest so glad to find this one here .

  31. Motorcycle locksmith :

I’m truly enjoying the design and layout of your site.
It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more enjoyable for me to
come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a designer to create your theme?
    Great work!

  32. Superb blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers?
I’m hoping to start my own website soon but I’m a
little lost on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there
that I’m completely overwhelmed .. Any tips? Cheers!

  33. I thought you were going to cover the “How” not the “Why”

I am aware Black Friday is lucrative but it is the “How” that is the issue.

    Pretty misleading title.

    • Ricky, sorry you didn’t find it helpful. Do you have any specific items I can help you with? Let’s try to fill some knowledge gaps.
